ID loversss gather here! First of if you know what that is you are definitely in the right place😂😂. I would say I am an enthusiast of true crime, y'know a normal amount( if you know me personally don't comment😅) Mostly because of curiosity I would say, wanting to know why people do what they do, and so far I've come across very interesting documentaries that all my true crime counterparts should check out.
They have all the good components of a good documentary which I would list as good narration, interviews with family or people who knew the victims and if we are lucky, people who knew the perpetrator which it's always interesting to hear from their point of view.
OK, enough yapping, onto the list!
The Staircase (Netflix). Starting off strong with what I would consider to be my top 5 documentaries of all time. Murder or a tragic accident? I was quite surprised there was a discussion between the two after watching it. But I'll let you be the judge of that.
American Murder: The Family Next Door, Laci Peterson(Netflix). This is a series regarding husbands who kill their significant other, family annihilators they are called who think it's easier to murder their families instead of just leaving, what an odd way to think. There are also the interview tapes of Chris Watts on YouTube you can check them out they are pretty interesting.
The Menendez Brothers(Netflix). The infamous brothers who murdered their parents. Plus there are behind bars interviews of them talking about what happened. Do you believe the brothers point of view or do you think they are just cold blooded murderers? Let me know.
The Murder That Shook The Running World| Bloomberg Investigates(YouTube). After just setting a World record in the women's 10,000 meter world record, Agnes Tirop was murdered by her husband. A trend that is becoming increasingly common in the athletes world. And justice is yet to be served as the man is free on barely any bail. A very sad tale on why you should leave immediately after noticing any violent tendencies.
Abducted In Plain Sight(Netflix). This documentary broke my heart because there was so much that could have been done to not escalate the situation to what it became the poor girl was failed by everyone around her and you get to hear her point of view.
Ice Cold: Murder ,Coffee and Jessica Wangso(Netflix). What happens when you are jealous of your friend? Do you just go ahead and poison her drink at a public restaurant? That was the exact thought process of Jessica. A true heart-breaking story of an instance that just should not have happened.
Murder To Mercy: The Cyntoia Brown Story(Netflix) which is one of the rare instances where people side with a sixteen year murderer and the murky way the murder of a man occurred.
This Is The Zodiac Speaking(Netflix) is about the unsolved zodiac murders and the prime suspect and how he always seemed to be at every murder scene. Pretty interesting. Though from my own research there quite a few more suspects that could very well be the Zodiac Killer(yes I am a detective😂).
Senzo: Murder Of A Soccer Star(Netflix). A famous South African goalkeeper in his prime was shot in his home and the case remains unsolved.
Homicide Los Angeles and New York(Netflix) is interviews by detectives as they discuss the most memorable cases from their states. A very interesting series I would say.
Sins Of Our Mother(Netflix) showcases how a son navigates life after his mother murdered his two younger siblings and other murders that have been unexplained around her.
Night Stalker(Netflix). One of the scariest serial killers I have watched and read about as he has no criteria in choosing victims, every one was in danger when it came to him. Find out about his upbringing and how he got caught.
Conversations With A Killer: JOHN WAYNE GACY TAPES, TED BUNDY TAPES,JEFFERY DAHMER TAPES(Netflix). Tapes from the most infamous serial killers in their own voices talking about the crimes they committed. Very chilling series because majorly you could never pick them out of a crowd. They just blend in as part of society but secretly have a much darker side.
Dear Zachary(YouTube) which is a letter to the son whose father was murdered by his mother and how the grandparents struggle to navigate shared custody with their son's murderer. A real tear jerker this one so come prepared with tissues.
I am a killer(Netflix). Which is one of the rare occurrences where the killer admits they did the crime and the thought process of why they felt the need to take a human life.
The Trials Of Gabriel Fernandez(Netflix). Trigger warning for this one because it's not for the faint of heart. The horror this young boy went through makes one question humanity especially since there were so many chances to save him from his abusive mother and stepfather.
Capturing The Killer Nurse(Netflix). What is most daunting about this is the fact that the killer is someone who is supposed to be taking care of you. Literally coming in for help and ending up murdered has to be a very chilling experience and thought to think about.
Teenage rage| Interview with a killer(YouTube).Tyler Hardley interviews a now grown man in prison who murdered his parents when he was a teenager. PS. Tyler Hardley is very good in interviews you should check out the whole series of different killers being interviewed.
These are obviously the tip of the iceberg as there are so many good documentaries out there. But don't worry, I have a plan to capture them in future posts. Finish these first calm down😂. Let me know which one has left an impact on you in the comments below.❤
