HRS 400

Hiking Mt. Kenya was one of the best experiences of my life and that says a lot considering how anti social I am😅. First off, shoutout patrol Pumba which was hands down the best patrol😂. I mean, Paw patrol was also alright since it was my initial group😅😂.

Day 1

Was the trip to Mt Kenya national park so we pretty much didn't have to walk which was a relief for me because I was feeling a bit under the weather👀😂.We later got there around the evening time where shoutout Sarah who taught me how to cut kale really well😂.

Day 2

Was officially our first hiking day  to Old Moses camp which was ok considering our pre-hike was almost 30km. Shoutout Patrol Dikdik who were starting the hike in high spirits with songs😂.

The hike took maybe six hours(I'm not sure of the exact time because my phone literally died before we made it out of Nairobi 😂). After pitching the tents people found different forms of entertainment such as playing cards or story telling while some went to take photos at the Old Moses camp sign because how else would people know you made it this far😂.

Day 3

Was a full day hike to Shiptons camp which proved to be slightly more challenging due to the increase in altitude the higher we went.

Wamaitha and Sarah were leading our patrol with a good pace and we eventually got there around the evening time and I was on cooking duty which was challenging considering how cold it was hence the food took forever to get ready leaving Paw patrol eating raw rice😂😂😂.Yikes!😂

Day 4

Aka summit day!! We were woken up at 2a.m(yes, a.m it's not a typo😂) Although we were told the previous day that's the time we would wake up,I still wasn't prepared for how cold it was and I had gotten little to no sleep as had everyone else. It was so cold I couldn't feel my hands and thought they would snap off if I made a fist,so, I went back to sleep😂😂.

Though I really felt guilty that I didn't summit I was very proud of everyone that did🤎.

Descending

Was the same day and everyone else looked so worn out after the summit so I tried to help out as much as I could in my patrol and taking enough stops for our baby girl Roro😂. The descent was descent for me with the help of my walking buddies Mabonga, Sarah, baby face,Kioko Dennis, Dr.Njenga and Hiram until people started putting rocks in other peoples bags😂(it was hilarious though 😂).

The bonfire was a nice conclusion to a very eventful experience and gave people a chance to relay how the experience was for them and it was a very enjoyable experience lead by Dr.Muigai who was very supportive to all of us all through the experience and the three months of training before.

Day 5

Was the trip back to Nairobi though we took a little detour to go rock climbing which was a good first time experience for many of us.

Overall HRS 400 was one of my most meaningful experiences that helped me open up my horizon to different experiences and be socially vulnerable to get to know other people aside from my usual circle. Definitely a 10/10 experience.
Oh, and I also learnt that my favourite color is green:).

Goethe-Institut's - The Jam

On the fourth of October, Goethe Institut set up a much needed end of the week event showcasing Kenyan talent through a concert curated by Tangaza magazine. The whole set up was meant to vibe and  be acquainted with three of our very own Kenyan talent.  The vibe was already set from beginning as the DJ, DJ Dauudi.O , welcomed people coming in with a good mix of songs that made the energy just right for future performances, y'know setting the mood😂. As did the MC's , Corrine Kahi and Ivix D.Kioi who were very engaging with the crowd in preparation for the upcoming performances and got everyone's spirit up and excited. There were also refreshments offered by Die Bar.ist.A which included some pretty good cocktails y'know, to start the weekend right😅 and capturing the whole event through his lens was Nairobi Phoet .  The first performance was by the lovely Njeri and her pianist Wacuka . She had very good crowd engagement encouraging sing alongs here and there which we...

The Perfect Hair Washday

Washing your hair can be a daunting task. That's why when you do it, you should make it count. Set aside a day when you do not have anything else to do and make a playlist of your favorite songs. You can also make it a full TLC day. Do a body scrub after to get that hair product off your body y'know. Ok, step 1  make sure you have all your hair products ready, these include shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, leave in conditioner and oil . Step 2 ,you can soften your hair with a conditioner(not deep conditioner) before you start to  wash your hair, this helps with hair softening before you start the shampooing process which can prove to be drying to your hair. While applying the conditioner, put your hair in twists while either finger detangling or combing it through with a paddle brush or a wide tooth comb. This will prevent tangles during the shampooing process which is  Step 3 . Before you apply shampoo to your hair make sure you completely drench your hair with wa...

True Crime Documentaries You Have To Watch

ID loversss gather here! First of if you know what that is you are definitely in the right place😂😂.  I would say I am an enthusiast of true crime, y'know a normal amount( if you know me personally don't comment😅) Mostly because of curiosity I would say, wanting to know why people do what they do, and so far I've come across very interesting documentaries that all my true crime counterparts should check out.  They have all the good components of a good documentary which I would list as good narration, interviews with family or people who knew the victims and if we are lucky, people who knew the perpetrator which it's always interesting to hear from their point of view. OK, enough yapping, onto the list! The Staircase ( Netflix ). Starting off strong with what I would consider to be my top 5 documentaries of all time. Murder or a tragic accident? I was quite surprised there was a discussion between the two after watching it. But I'll let you be the judge of that. ...
