A Soundtrack to Life: Hildah Watiri

Based on her discography. I could describe Hildah Watiri as an all round creative(Singer, songwriter, Guitarist, actor, media practitioner and film producer and writer) as she incorporates and experiments with different sounds creating her own version of afro fusion/pop, soul and rnb which you can clearly pick up from her music.

Coming from a musician background, Hildah Watiri has been in tune (see what I did there😂) with harmonies thanks to her dad but took up singing in high school where she was part of a girl band. Performing in various school events is what eventually made her discover her love of the art.

Her instrument of choice is the guitar which is part of her creative process that varies from cute love songs to up-tempo music you can dance to. Y'know whatever she's in the mood for which is the best way to create I would say✰.

Hildah Watiri's growth in the Kenyan music scene can be seen through collabs with other local artists like Kayrop in so loved ,Kamwari in Modest and these songs are available on all streaming platforms be sure to check them out and support:) And in the near future she will be a household name because of her raw talent and creativity.💛

Be sure to be on the lookout for her first single of the year!!💃💃 plus, her sophomore E.P in October and catch her live on 30th October at alchemist Afreenation vol 7 I've already told you mapema so no excuses😂. What can I say, she's a gift that keeps on giving😂.

Goethe-Institut's - The Jam

On the fourth of October, Goethe Institut set up a much needed end of the week event showcasing Kenyan talent through a concert curated by Tangaza magazine. The whole set up was meant to vibe and  be acquainted with three of our very own Kenyan talent.  The vibe was already set from beginning as the DJ, DJ Dauudi.O , welcomed people coming in with a good mix of songs that made the energy just right for future performances, y'know setting the mood😂. As did the MC's , Corrine Kahi and Ivix D.Kioi who were very engaging with the crowd in preparation for the upcoming performances and got everyone's spirit up and excited. There were also refreshments offered by Die Bar.ist.A which included some pretty good cocktails y'know, to start the weekend right😅 and capturing the whole event through his lens was Nairobi Phoet .  The first performance was by the lovely Njeri and her pianist Wacuka . She had very good crowd engagement encouraging sing alongs here and there which we...

The Perfect Hair Washday

Washing your hair can be a daunting task. That's why when you do it, you should make it count. Set aside a day when you do not have anything else to do and make a playlist of your favorite songs. You can also make it a full TLC day. Do a body scrub after to get that hair product off your body y'know. Ok, step 1  make sure you have all your hair products ready, these include shampoo, conditioner, deep conditioner, leave in conditioner and oil . Step 2 ,you can soften your hair with a conditioner(not deep conditioner) before you start to  wash your hair, this helps with hair softening before you start the shampooing process which can prove to be drying to your hair. While applying the conditioner, put your hair in twists while either finger detangling or combing it through with a paddle brush or a wide tooth comb. This will prevent tangles during the shampooing process which is  Step 3 . Before you apply shampoo to your hair make sure you completely drench your hair with wa...

True Crime Documentaries You Have To Watch

ID loversss gather here! First of if you know what that is you are definitely in the right place😂😂.  I would say I am an enthusiast of true crime, y'know a normal amount( if you know me personally don't comment😅) Mostly because of curiosity I would say, wanting to know why people do what they do, and so far I've come across very interesting documentaries that all my true crime counterparts should check out.  They have all the good components of a good documentary which I would list as good narration, interviews with family or people who knew the victims and if we are lucky, people who knew the perpetrator which it's always interesting to hear from their point of view. OK, enough yapping, onto the list! The Staircase ( Netflix ). Starting off strong with what I would consider to be my top 5 documentaries of all time. Murder or a tragic accident? I was quite surprised there was a discussion between the two after watching it. But I'll let you be the judge of that. ...
