Different Oils To Use On Your Hair And Their Benefits

Different hair oils have different advantages to your hair and depending on what exactly you need for your hair, you can better navigate what to get. Rule number one, you want to get hair oils with just that one ingredient, the oil itself. This makes sure you don't put fragrances on your hair which can counter what you want to achieve.

There are some general reasons why you would like to use oil on your hair:

To lock in moisture as we all know oil traps moisture in the hair strands so your hair stays moisturized longer.

Hot oil treatment after washing your is honestly the best thing you can do for your hair and reap the benefits of the oils. This involves mixing your desired oils together and warming them in a bottle in hot water then applying it to your hair and scalp.

As a hair mask for those who like a natural protein mask. This is where you can mix your desired oils with a banana, avocado, honey and maybe an egg to use before shampooing and conditioning your hair. PS you have to be really careful with a natural protein treatment here are some pointers:

  • blend blend blendd can't stress this enough especially if you are using banana.
  • if you are using an egg rinse out with cold water unless you want cooked egg on your head😂

Detangling after a protective style as it is a good softening agent so it's less of a task untangling your hair after taking out your hair.

Ok. now for each hair oil and it's benefits so you can buy the one whose benefits you wish to have.

Avocado Oil

Reduces dryness of the hair and scalp hence making the hair shiny.

Great for water retention that means your hair will remain moisturized longer.

Improve shaft strength of the hair which means it improves elasticity of the length of your hair which prevents hair breaking easily.

Reduce split ends which happens when there is friction with the hair and causes damage at the ends of the hair which tend to be the most fragile part of the hair because it is the oldest. Avocado oil  makes hair look and feel healthier overall.

Castor Oil

Helps with hair growth increasing the growth by up to  five times the normal rate.

Reduces dandruff that may be uncomfortable and make the hair look dirty even if it is clean. Castor oil has anti bacterial and anti fungal properties that help combat this issue

Moisturizing both the scalp and hair shaft that promotes all round hair healthy.

Increase flexibility and elasticity of hair that prevent easy breakage caused by dry hair.

Olive Oil

Gives the hair a shiny look that makes the hair appear voluminous and healthy. So, on that bad hair day, this is definitely your friend.

Olive oil softens the hair making the detangling process that much more quicker and easier without the risk of breaking and damaging the hair.

Condition dry hair by providing moisture to the hair shaft which in turns prevents breaking of the hair caused by dryness.

Coconut Oil

Relives dandruff and dry skin because it is proven to be antifungal which assist with sculp itchiness.

Tames frizz for when your hair starts having a mind of it's own 😅.You Can use it during a protective style for the ends or your afro styles.

Reduce protein loss from the hair which helps the hair shaft remain healthy

As usual, before using any oil, I advice you to do a patch test on a small part of your hair preferably the back so you can see how the oil interacts with your hair and scalp. And incase of any allergic reactions you may not know you have.

Otherwise, oil is an essential when it comes to hair health and the sooner you find what works for you, the sooner you can start your healthy hair journey.

A Heart Of Gold: Virginia Children's Home

Bluverse in partnership with TashaSasha Foundation organized an event to help the children of Virginia Children's Home through donations, visiting and spending time with the children. Founders of Bluverse and TashaSasha Foundation The Home is located in Utawala and from the minute I got there I could feel the warmth radiating from the children as members took part in cooking, braiding, hair cuts and playing with the children. The home houses roughly 20 children  and the mother of the children shared her journey of why and how she came about starting the home and it was truly inspirational and you could tell she cared and truly loves each and every one of the kids who range from a form four student to the youngest girl who is only four years old. the Mum who takes care of the children🤍 As the first Home I have visited, I was truly inspired with the existence of such pure hearts including the organizations that made this happen and their willingness to extend their love to complete
